How to Get Mardi Gras Beads

So, you’re going to a Mardi Gras party and you want to earn some Mardi Gras beads, but you don’t want to take off your clothing. Can you still do it? Absolutely. I guarantee you can walk away with some of the biggest and most impressive beads if you learn to bust out a few of these moves:

1. The Cartwheel. Not everyone can do them, but that is what makes it so impressive. If you can think back to your gym class days and dust off your cartwheel, whether you are a man or a woman I can promise you’ll be taking home some impressive throws. (Tip: don’t try this one drunk!)

2. Dancing. You might not think you are the world’s best dancer, but it’s amazing what looks good to a bunch of tipsy party people! Even if you just have one or two moves, that’s all you need to earn some beads. Since you keep moving from group to group, you can reuse your moves all you want.

3. The Bow & Pray. I made this one up myself, and it works every time. Pick your target and point at them. Gentlemen, remove your hat, bow with a flourish, drop to one knee and begin praying with your hands together in front of you. Ladies, master your curtsy, drop to both knees and same thing. If they don’t give you beads there is something deeply wrong with their head!

A couple moves to avoid though. The “tease” (pretending you’re going to flash, but not) is not generally a crowd pleaser. And if someone else is about to catch beads, trying to jump in front and grab them might seem funny, but it’s a jerk move. Get out there and earn your own beads!
